The Moroccan Atlantic coast

From Tangiers to the Mauritanian border the Moroccan coast offers a succession of impressive landscapes : cliffs, dunes, sandy beaches and lagoons. Sheltering a very rich bird life, the coast is also a paradise for fishing, surfing and wind-surfing with several world famous spots.

The coast has a pleasant climate with mild winter and summer temperatures never as high as inland
Some of the country's natural wonders are along the coast :

  • Moulay Bousselam lagoon and beach, a major birdwatching spot, between Rabat and Tangiers.
  • Oualidia lagoon, South of Safi, famous for its oyster production.
  • The Souss Massa National Park, South of Agadir.
  • Dakhla, a great kite-surf and fun-board spot in the desert at the extreme South of the country.
The countryside between Essaouira and Agadir is the land of the Argan tree, an edemic specy which produces fruits from which is made the famous Argan oil used in cosmetics and cooking.
